The story behind the MC Diagnosis Adapters

Molex CMC connectors are modular, sealed high-density hybrid connectors. Beyond many advantages of this wide used connector in automotive and other industries, coming with this design, especially in-circuit-measurement and intervention of devices that use this connector type is impeded and limited.
For that reason, the MC Diagnosis Adapter (MCDA) is designed. The MCDA is a piece of hardware for performing measurement, control, monitoring or diagnosis tasks of devices that are built with MOLEX CMC 28, 32, 36, 48 and 112 pin connectors.

Architecture

The diagnosis adapter can be plugged in between an Electronic Control System (ECU) and the wiring harness (ECU-EXT-wiring harness) that’s normally connected between ECU and the external devices. It provides a 1:1 transparent connection of each connector connection pin.

Connection Diagram


Each connection of the CMC connector is available on the diagnosis adapter. Depending on the diagnosis adapter model, it can be opened or closed by applying a sliding switch oder a jumper. Two connection points on both sides of the related sliding switch can be accessed over terminal connectors for a wide range of above described tasks.
